The City of Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department will only operate on cats over 3 lbs and dogs under 50 lbs (For dogs over 50 lbs. call 311).

  • Appointment ONLY
  • Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday ONLY
  • Eastside Shelter ONLY
  • All dogs required to be on leash
  • All cats required to be in a carrier
  • Limited to 2 pets per household
  • Drop-off time is from 7:30 to 8:00 am
  • Proof of qualification MUST be presented at drop off or services will not be rendered.
  • Rabies vaccination and microchip is done during surgery
  • Surgery patient pick-up is from 3:00 to 5:00 pm
  • there is a program for dogs over 50 lbs. Call 311 for more information!


Note: If you fail to pick up your pets, they will be kept overnight.  Overnight fees will apply and must be paid before your pet will be released to you.

Program offers low-cost spay/neuter for dogs and cats to residents of the Estancia Valley basin:  Edgewood, Stanley, Moriarty, Estancia, Tajique, Mountainair and eastern Bernalillo County.  No income restrictions.  Two veterinarians in Edgewood participate.  Client pays $30 for cats, $60 for dogs.  Call or email for full details.

This program of Saving Animals New Mexico, funded by a generous grant from The Summerlee Foundation, has successfully fixed and microchipped over 300 Pit Bulls and continues to work tirelessly to help end pet overpopulation in their county, Rio Arriba.
